No:159/22, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation

On April 4, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted an event and exhibition on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. 

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the leadership and staff of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event began with the national anthems of both countries.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev noted that despite the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation on April 4, 1992, the history of relations between the two countries is much older. Noting the exceptional role of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in maintaining traditional relations based on friendship and mutual respect after the collapse of the USSR, the Deputy Minister noted that thanks to the political dialogue between the heads of states of the two countries, based on mutual trust, today there is effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in various fields, including political, economic, humanitarian and educational. The Deputy Minister highlighted that we highly appreciate the role of Russia as a mediator in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the full implementation of all provisions of the signed trilateral statements is an important condition for achieving peace and stability in the region.

Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov spoke about the dynamics of relations between the two countries over the past 30 years, noting that relations have been steadily rising. It was stressed that the Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 3, 1997 constitutes basis of the relations, as well as the joint documents signed between the two countries in the following years were noted with satisfaction. It was noted that the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia is based on the good relations between the heads of states, as well as the close historical ties between the two peoples. Noting that the relations established 30 years ago yield its results today, the Ambassador shared his congratulations on the occasion of this significant day with the participants.

At the end of the event, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
