Dr. Huseyn HUSEYNOV

 

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador

of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria 

 

 

He was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 19 April 2021.

In 2019-2021 he was Director of the Department for Analysis and Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2015-2018 he served as the Deputy Head of the Department for Analysis and Strategic Studies of the MFA.

In 2012-2015, he was Counsellor (DCM) at the Mission of Azerbaijan to NATO, responsible for the political and security dimensions of bilateral partnerships between Azerbaijan and NATO.

In 2009-2011 he was First Secretary of the Foreign Policy Planning and Strategic Studies Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and directed the activities of the Foreign Policy Planning Division.

From 2005 to 2008 he served at the Mission of Azerbaijan to the European Union. His portfolio included political and politico-military issues.

In 2001-2005 he held several positions at the MFA of Azerbaijan, responsible for regional security, crisis management and conflict settlement issues.

In 1999–2001 he was the Head of Public and Foreign Relations Department of the Azerbaijani Students Council under the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan

He holds a PhD in political science and received MA and BA degrees in international relations (with distinctions) from Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku Institute of Social Management and Political Science.
