No:442/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the election of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Executive Board of UNESCO for 2021-2025
On November 17, 2021, within the framework of the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference, elections were held for the membership of the UNESCO Executive Board for 2021-2025. In the elections, the Republic of Azerbaijan was nominated for one of the 3 vacancies allocated for the Eastern European Group.
The Republic of Azerbaijan was elected a member of the Board with 143 votes in the highly competitive elections.
The support of our country's candidacy by a large number of states is a testament of global recognition of the attention paid by the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of science, education and culture, as well as of the attention paid by our country to the protection of cultural heritage.
During its membership in the UNESCO Executive Board, the Republic of Azerbaijan will make a valuable contribution to the effective implementation of UNESCO's mandate, especially in developing countries.
