The anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated in Bulgaria with a series of events
Representatives of the Azerbaijani community in Bulgaria, as well as local public figures, attended the memorial ceremony held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Bulgaria on February 26. Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria Huseyn Huseynov informed in detail about the historical, political and legal factors behind the Khojaly genocide and emphasized that the political and legal assessment of the bloody massacre under the name of genocide was first given by the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1994 under the leadership of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. The Ambassador noted that truth and justice were established with the liberation of all territories of Azerbaijan, including Khojaly, from the occupation of Armenia by the victorious Azerbaijani army under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Moreover, in the reports disseminated in the Bulgarian media on the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, the essence of the Khojaly genocide, which was a manifestation of Armenia's ethnic cleansing and occupation policy, was comprehensilevly explained. It was emphasized that in order for the humanity to learn from such terrible crimes and to draw conclusions to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future, Khojaly genocide should be recognized and perpetrators be brought to justice.
